In addition to the adhesive and the materials to be bonded, the decisive factor in adhesive bonding is reliable control of the processes. DIN 2304 „Adhesive Bonding Technology – Quality Requirements for Adhesive Bonding Processes – Part 1: Process Chain Adhesive Bonding“ can be of decisive help here.
The standard lists all relevant process steps from development to production. It also specifically includes repairing bonded joints, provides information on storage and logistics, and defines the requirements for the qualification of personnel.
DIN 2304-1 is now detached from the application sector. It is regarded as a technical regulation, e.g. for automotive engineering, mechanical engineering, the manufacture of „white goods“ and agricultural machinery, as well as for shipbuilding and the construction industry.
There has been a series of standards (DIN 6701 Parts 2 – 4, which is comparable in many points) for applications in rail vehicle construction for more than 17 years. This national standard has been running in coexistence with the new European standard EN 17460 since October 2022 – see special tab „Adhesive bonding in railway vehicle construction“ on the main Certification page.
Since it is a technical regulation, it must be implemented in a binding manner and forms the basis for legal proceedings under criminal law or contract law. Compliance with technical regulations is a central point in German jurisdiction.
TC-Kleben GmbH can audit operations based on DIN 2304-1 and our certification programme and – if the result is positive – certify them. A certificate attesting to the user’s mastery of the adhesive bonding process chain is handed over to the company by ourselves. This is certainly a safety factor for the user during contract negotiations.
The certificate is also kept in the DIN 2304 online register (www.din2304.de). This is another important marketing tool. Customers can use it to select specific qualified subcontractors.
Your company can also bear a „Certified Adhesive Bonding Company“ test mark on request and use it in accordance with our mark statutes.
